How Does High Water Pressure Affect Your Plumbing?

iStock_000017827573_SmallWhen it comes to showers – many prefer high water pressure over a dribble of low. But, did you know that if your water pressure is too high it could damage your plumbing fixtures?

Majority of plumbing fixture manufactures recommend water pressure should be no higher than 80 psi when used with their products. Anything above this can cause parts to fail prematurely. This extra stress on your plumbing will leave you replacing parts much more often than you should be!

To make sure this does not happen to you, be aware of these signs of high water pressure:

  • Banging pipes
  • Spitting from aerator when you turn the faucet on.
  • Water heater not lasting as long as expected
  • Leaking faucets
  • Washing machine or dishwasher not lasting as long as expected
  • Running toilet

If you are experiencing any of these signs then it is time to give us a call. We’re Southern Colorado plumbing and sewer line repair and replacement experts. Give us a call at (719) 544-4922 for fast service!
